New coffee kids on the block

It's the second day of opening and these guys seem to know what they're doing. Love the look of the place that occupies a corner location in a high pedestrian traffic area. Cappuccino ($3.50) using Five Senses Coffee Dark Horse Blend is made well with a nice dark roast flavour and quite light on froth. Ham & Cheese Croissant ($8) is small but tasty using a croissant from Breadfern. Seating and tables are on the small side suitable for a quick coffee or simple bite to eat. Service was friendly and keen for efficiency. Table water brought promptly when dining in. I'm curious to try the lobster roll on the lunch board menu as I'm always looking for the best one in Sydney. Those oversized cookies on display will be sure to tempt an epic sugar kick to share.

A favourite spot for falafel fix

Yummba has been a long time favourite place for a falafel fix since I tried it many years ago. Today is no exception but I also found out its sadly their last day at Westfield Bondi Junction after 13 years. It seems it's either renovate the shop front at a huge expense or move on time for these guys. Thankfully I hear they also have a Yummba at UNSW which I'll definitely have to check out. Today's lunch was the Yummba Plate ($23 large) to share. Falafel Balls with hummus, babaganoush, salsa, tahini, garden salad, tabouli, red cabbage and pickles. Love the size of these falafel which are cooked to order plus a great crunch and good flavour. Goes well with the dips and salad inside the soft pita bread or simply on their own. One of my top three places in Sydney for a falafel fix. I also love the falafels at Sabbaba in Bondi and Jasmin One in Punchbowl.

Meat market in Bondi

This place was pumping for an early Sunday dinner service. Greeted with an impressive display of cut meats I wasn't quite sure of the procedure to dine in so asked a waiting takeaway customer. Everyone queues up to order first and then after you pay they aim to find a seat for you even though many of the available tables had reserved signs on them. I got the 'Formaggio' with 100% Cape Grim Angus Beef Pattie, Cheddar, Pickles, Onion, Ketchup and Mustard ($9.90). It's a nice soft old school bun but I thought way too much out of proportion for the size of the smaller pattie and I suspect it's to accommodate for larger sized burger fillings although I don't think it quite works for the humble cheeseburger option as well as it should. The pattie meat itself quite nice and tasty although it's shaped more like a rissole than a pattie. Cheese is tasty but could benefit from being more melty. There was also shredded cheese on the bottom which I think tasted a bit like parmesan but it's not listed on the menu so perhaps it's cheddar. Presentation wise looked very much like what you'd make at home. I got a side of Rustic Potato Fries ($4.90 regular) which were good. Fairly crispy and nice flavour. They go well with the Sweet Baby Ray's Hickory & Brown Sugar Barbecue Sauce on the table. Service was friendly and efficient. Cool decor and setup. The cheeseburger needs more refinement for my liking though.

French patisserie in Rose Bay

This little take away only patisserie is located in a quaint village of shops in the back streets of Rose Bay. Strawberry Tart ($5.90) looks a bit rustic with the messy presentation on the side of the pastry but thankfully it's a very nice pastry lined with chocolate on the inside. Strawberries are fresh tasting and there's plenty of custard underneath which isn't too sweet. Free street parking in the area is handy. I might be tempted to visit for another sugar hit treated if passing by.
